Meet Your Instructor
Jessica Gilpin
Whatever Mountains you’re trying to Move, Jess has the Pilates expertise to help you do it.
Originally from London, ON, Jess stumbled upon Pilates when she was just 18 through a high school co-op placement at Create Balance Pilates. She had been searching for what she wanted to do in life and it seemed Pilates found her.
As soon as she tried it out, she was hooked. She loved how by using that mind-body connection she was able to connect so much deeper to her muscles without feeling exhausted afterwards, but instead energized and clear-minded. Having grown up immersed in her school’s music programs, the rhythm of Pilates felt instinctual and the idea of Merrithew’s slogan “Intelligent exercise, profound results” made sense!
So, once her placement was up, she continued working front desk at Create Balance until she took her first training course through STOTT Pilates a year later.
Since then, she’s gotten her STOTT Pilates Mat, Reformer, and Chair certifications, has collected countless Continuing Education Credits, and has become a qualified Physiotherapist Assistant. She’s worked with people and bodies of all kinds - from professional dancers to wheelchair bound individuals and everything in between.
Not to mention, she picked up and moved across the country to be near the mountains!!
When she’s not off doing Pilates mountain top, she teaches full time at Club Pilates and Junction 9 in Calgary. She’s known there for her creative, yet clearly cued group classes that flow so well they fly by before you even realize how hard you’ve just worked.
